Christforums

.... an orthodox (true and correct when contrasted with Liberal theology) Protestant forum whose members espouse the Apostolic doctrines in the Biblical theologies set forth by Augustine, Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin and John Knox etc. We do not "argue" with nor do we solicit the membership of people who espouse secular or cultic ideologies. We believe that our conversations are to be faith building and posts that advance heretical or apostate thinking will be immediately deleted and the poster permanently banned from the forum. This is a Christian community for people to explore the traditional theologies of Classical Protestantism. Those who would challenge the peace and harmony that we enjoy here as fellow believers are directed to another website.

I read that church’s statement of faith (actually, their “distinctive principles”). It looks like it was written by an idiot and approved by a room of idiots (the board)(abbreviated):

The preeminence of Christ [okay, but Mormons say the same thing]

The supreme authority of the Bible [okay, they’ve separated themselves from Mormons]

The right of private interpretation [they might not mean to directly contradict 2 Peter 1:20]

The absolute separation of Church and State [the “please persecute us” clause]

The complete independence of the local church and its interdependence with other Baptist churches [oxymoron]

The solemn obligation of majority rule and equal rights to and special privilege to none [equal rights to none, haha; also, way to make use of a favorite term to abuse by antichristians]

The spiritual unity of all believers for which the Master so earnestly prayed [something tells me I should be concerned with their use of the word “Master”]

The woman is suing the church for failing to pay extortion money? The church did, in writing, agree to pay her $375 forever to keep quite. What are her damages? Why is the judge not laughing this out of court? There's no legal basis for the suit, and there are no damages.

It's already established that this church isn't ran by the brightest people. The pastor shouldn't have had an affair. Failing that, he should have stepped down. The church should have dismissed him and refused to pay hush money. After their moral failure, they suffered an intellectual failure and what would have just been whispered secret to a few is now known by the world, pastor Dave Janney is a lech and a twit. Hey Janny, you should have read Luke 12:3.

Only $375? ... guess it's more lucrative to be an altar boy at a Catholic Church than a pretty lady at a Baptist Church...

"Janney and other church officials reportedly presented Miranda with a statement to sign which promised her $375 a week if she kept quiet. Miranda signed the statement, but says she never received payment."

Works out to $19,500 per year.

Do you pay taxes on hush money? ;)

That's better than altar boy settlements. And, to answer your question, an honest woman would pay taxes on income.

Excuse me, $375/week.

The Church is ran by idiots. The Congregation should demand new leadership, and not just another pastor.

An honest woman wouldn't have an affair. An honest women wouldn't be blackmailing for hush money. That $19500 is tax-free.
