    What is the Rapture?

Regarding the Rev 4 passage. The 24 elders -- a footnote in the older NIV study Bible that I'm using -- they are either a whole group of believers in heaven -- or an exalted order of angels worshiping and serving God there. But I would question that group of believers being the Church. The group talked about in 7:14 -- "'And he said, These are they who have come out of the great tribulation...." Previously in that chapter -- a great multitude of people from every nation , tribe and people -- who had been reached by the 144,000 Jews who had been sealed by the Holy Spirit to go into the 7 years of tribulation. Looking back at what you said -- I'm pretty much repeating you, but the Church has already been raptured out of the world. I'm just questioning those multitudes being referred to As the Church or a continuation Of?

    What is the Rapture?

Yes, all things were made by Him -- Him being the creator of all -- but, that does Not meant all things Are Him. Because That would make Adam , Jesus , and that isn't Biblical. God the Father, 1st person of the Godhead, created Adam and one of Adams' ribs was taken and Eve became a living soul. In Revelation 1:1 -- God was using an angel to give John a vision of what was to come -- and -- to show His servants -- meaning those who read the book of Revelation -- a view of those coming events in the future. You're referring to the temptation of Jesus Christ by the devil in the book of Luke 4? It was the Holy Spirit leading Jesus in the desert where He, Jesus, was tempted for 40 days by the devil. During part of that time, the devil led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand at the highest point of the temple. " If you are the Son of God...... throw yourself down from here. For it is written, "He will command His angels concerning you to guard you carefully ; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." After Jesus responded to him "Do not put the Lord your God to the test." Then the devil left Him until another time ." Well -- Moses Was a tool in God's hands to deliver Israel from bondage in Egypt. What is the Rapture?

The Holy Spirit was meeting the need of the lady through the message being preached. God created the angelic world -- there are various kinds Of angels -- so a messenger angel was sent to John. There are many angels mentioned in the book of Revelation. Every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior is a brethren or sister in Christ. When a believer dies, he/she receives a glorified body. That is how we will be in heaven -- New Jerusalem -- in glorified bodies like Jesus Christ received after His death and resurrection. You seem to be hung up on Jesus having a personal angel. God created multitudes of angels with various jobs. A person can spend lots of time speculating about Scripture -- what something Might mean or refer to and get sort of mixed up in the process. God was allowing John to see into the future -- John was 'seeing' events of the future Through Jesus Christ. There had been the seven churches in Asia -- they all had various good things and bad things present in their churches. One thing pastors can do Now -- is take a look at their own church and compare how their church is doing in comparison to those Asia churches. What positives are in their own church as well as what negatives are present. God's guidance in working with their own congregations.

Our "new creation" is in Christ and in heaven.

William -- I'm Good with 'light reading'. My husband has a Systematic Theology book by Dr. Wallace. And there's another poster who shares some from his systematic theology off-line. I've heard of Grudems. Thanks.
  6. Are you suggesting that Pres. Trump shouldn't have gotten into that office? Actually a Lot of people never thought he'd get into serious running. But he Did and he Has become President and I feel he's going a good job. 'Draining the swamp' can be a messy, smelly job. And it's the mess and smell that isn't fun to be around. But a swamp Needs to be cleaned out to make the area clean / Healthy.

    What is the Rapture?

@JulieB67 The 1 Thessalonians 4:17 passage Does refer / describes what Will take place in the future rapture. You suggested that in the next chapter 5 is the 'day of the Lord' -- you're suggesting a 'secret' event. "with a loud command, the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God" doesn't sound very 'secret'. Born-again believers both who have already died physically and those alive at that time -- Will be taken up to meet Jesus Christ in the sky and be with Him forever. The 1st day of the week -- the Lord's Day -- is in honor of the morning that Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave after His crucifixion. So -- 'the day of the Lord' and 'the Lords' Day' would be referring to two different things.

    What is the Rapture?

@larry2 -- regarding 'who is Jesus' angel'? -- Jesus is Christ the Son of God -- the 2nd person of the Godhead. The Godhead / God -- Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created....." this creation included heaven and the angelic world. Genesis would indicate that the Earth and mankind was the last of the creation process. Lucifer was the angel created next to God. His bright and shining star. But - he was thrown out of heaven. Became satan here on earth. My response to your question is -- I didn't know that He HAD an angel. Scripture indicates that Jesus Could have called a multitude Of angels to deliver Him from the cross. But He knew 'the cross' Had to take place. Otherwise there would be No Salvation. There Are two angels mentioned by name -- Michael the archangel and Gabriel.

    What is the Rapture?

Willie T. -- the verses preceding Colossians :23 -- Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of y our evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation, "if you continue in your faith, established and firm......this is the Gospel which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven at that time. And it continues to be the Gospel until the end Does come. Throughout the centuries -- believers have endured Lots of times of horrible suffering for Christ's name -- some thought they might have Missed the rapture because they were still ' here.' Or that maybe there was no real rapture. But those people died Before they could know -- here on earth. When they got to be with Christ, they'd Know the truth. That the rapture was still ' yet to come'.

    What is the Rapture?

@S.D. --my husband has that, too. You're bio info says that you have no church that you associate with. Is that because of your PTSD or your doctrinal beliefs.

    What is the Rapture?

So -- apparently 'deade' doesn't agree with Sound Doctrine regarding the rapture and the events after that. Well -- when I was doing a study through Revelation some years ago -- I was reminded that there Are several different views of those events. I happen to agree with 'Sound Doctrine" -- but, obviously, not every one does. And there Are passages that seem to indicate the potential of each of those views. BTW -- It's the Holy Spirit -- not Holy Ghost. John 4:23,24 is a wonderful passage -- worshipping God in spirit and in truth -- but what does it have to do with the rapture?! Hope I'm not sounding like a 'moderator'.

    What is the Rapture?

Colossians 1:23 "if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the Gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I , Paul, have become a servant." I'd commented that everyone on the earth will have a chance to hear the Gospel and then the end will come. What am I Supposed to be 'doing with' your passage. I didn't know there Are various arguments. Apparently the first part -- If a person continues is his faith,.... not moved from the hope held out..... Please connect the dots for me.

    What is the Rapture?

Yes, everyone in the world will have an opportunity to hear the Gospel. And Then the end shall come.

    What is the Rapture?

How about that the time is ripe for the rapture and Then the 7 yrs of tribulation and Then the 2nd coming to the earth as is stated in Zech 14:4 . There Is going to be the total destruction of the earth -- And the New Jerusalem will be brought down. It will be a combo of heaven and earth called the New Jerusalem. A beautiful description in Rev. 21 and 22.
