And, as we read, to transgress the law in one point makes one guilty of all. The book of 1st John. Take it literally. *I* asked, I answered: the glory is God's, and all who obey shall likewise glory in God. If *I* cannot keep those two commandments, and if *I* desire to keep those two commandments, then why do *I* not exercise faith in God and ask him for the capacity to keep them? For is it not written that God giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not? And is it not written "ask, and ye shall receive! Knock, and it shall be opened unto you!"? We disagree on the meaning of justification and probably won't come to agreement. And he giveth us that which is needful that we may attain to the fulness of his stature. Which is the point of keeping his commandments - that we may receive of him the experience necessary to attain to his stature, by his grace and through our faith. I have no position: I repeat the commandments of him whom *I* say is *my* Lord and *my* Savior, and repeat that it is necessary to keep them. Satan's one purpose is to stop *me* from keeping the commandments of Christ through vain philosophies and doctrines and lies. How *I* interpret me is a function of judging after the manner of *my* own heart: Romans 2:1. If *I* were pure, *I* would assume everyone to be pure: Titus 1:15. Inasmuch as *I* insist on turning the topic to me, *I* am insisting on performing judgement. As for me, it is none of my affair whether *I* keep the commandments or not; my task is to repeat them, remind those who claim the Lord of their obligations, and answer the sincere seekers.
  2. Are you making this a condition of my participation on this board? This is the thrust of 1 John. The law is simple, and it is given in the OP; if you distrust my rephrasing, you may of course refer to any number of translations of the New Testament for they do not vary substantially. I am capable of keeping them. Which of these commandments do you claim you cannot keep? By believing the word when it came to me; by repenting of all my sins by calling upon the name of the Lord, even until he remitted my sins and justified me through the ministration of the Holy Spirit; and by exercising faith in him by prayer and by doing what he has commanded from thenceforth. Understanding me is not, and ought not be, an issue, since I am repeating the commandments of him whom you acknowledge to be your Lord and your Savior. Inasmuch as you make *me* the topic of interest, you go astray.
  3. I do not justify myself, but God has justified me through his mercy and grace, that I may do as he has commanded. If I were to rebel against his commandments, then I would be in my sins, my faith would be dead, and I would be found a hypocrite at the last, just as are all they who say they believe and do not do what the Lord has commanded.
  4. The Pharisees kept not the law, but instead kept their traditions in place of the law of Moses. If they had kept the law, they would have received Jesus, for it was he who gave the law. Just as if you are keeping the commandments of Jesus, you will receive what I say, since I repeat what you acknowledge are the commandments of him whom ye say is your Lord and your Savior. None is morally superior save one, that is God.

  8. The difference between justification and our Christian duty is the difference between being made able to keep the law, and actually keeping the law. "Just" means doing what you have agreed to. "Justification" means to be rendered able to do what you have agreed to, in particular to be born again to see the kingdom of God, being made a partaker to that degree of His righteousness. "Sanctification" means to fulfill the law and abide in God without sin from thenceforth, being born of God, in this world being as He is.

  13. Yes, I even said it outright in the original post. If you appeal to Paul to defeat Jesus, it would seem you must necessarily be Paul's disciple, and not Jesus's. Paul, I might add, would not approve: 1 Corinthians 1:13; 1 Corinthians 7:19. If you say God's commandments cannot be kept, you cannot be keeping them and also cannot be born again. See 1 John and James 2, among others.

My point is to repeat the sayings, teachings, and commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to remind those who call themselves by his holy name: If we do these things which he has commanded, we are the church and family of God. If we do not these things which he has commanded, we are not the church and family of God.
