  • Is Honesty Dead?

When I was growing up in the 60's, the most important things my parents instilled in me was love of God and His teachings, as well as, being honest and trustworthy, and accountable for my actions. Yet in today's climate of demands and rights, that really remove other peoples rights, it has become not just conflicts with ones self, but major battles against evil doers of whom never seem to be held accountable for anything. Our governments are filled with corruption and it trickles down into local affairs that affect young adults, warping their minds and hearts turning them away from God. It is like the flip side of a coin where communism is deemed good and good is deemed bad. If there is climate change to fight against then this is it.

How can Christians fight back against this growing tide that is threatening countries all over the world? Proclaiming Christ and praying constantly are buffers against the wind and while seeming to slow down or stop the tide in some areas, but other areas see no relief where Christians are being raped and beaten, and murdered on a daily if not hourly basis. I see in our new president Trump, a man who holds God in his heart and also someone who is being hammered at every turn and yet somehow is still standing firm.

Is this our Armageddon? Is the over seas final destructive battle being played out now? Is Christ coming back soon?

Please share your thoughts on this subject both personal and through God's Word, as stated in the Bible.

It's not that honest is dead, it's that societies and people have chosen a different direction in order to accomplish and achieve their desires, which may require them to act in a devious and ill manner. As humans we should always judge ourselves in order to improve and become better.

This is the age of skepticism, where millenials such as I no longer ask ourselves if the message being presented on television is true, but rather if the man who delivers the message believes what he is saying.

If everyone was honest with themselves and accepted the truth which is Christ, well, then our impersonal mechanism called Capitalism would crumble and half of us would be wandering vegabond beggars who grasp onto the hope that death is not our end.

It is quite obvious that honesty in this world is offensive because honesty is not of the world, nor will it ever make compromise with the world. It demands everything of us.

Being that the world has fabricated a deception that pain and suffering are evil, it should follow that honesty be evil as well and that nihilism ciphered into "tolerance" should take its place.

Wow Trist, that is a very frightening statement  Would you say that this is at least partially true of many of our Millennial Christians as well, and if so, how pervasive do you think it is?

This isn't Armageddon. Here is how the Bible describes that final battle.

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 19:11-16)

We may be experiencing the events which will lead to that final battle. It is said by some that the persecution of Christians that is taking place now is the worst that has ever been experienced.

Homeschooling children is one of the best way to make sure the generations that will came from you will continue God's will. Most schools today will just influenced children to be liberal and Atheist. Also parents must also guard what their kids watch on TV so they won't be influenced by all those propaganda.

A niece of mine just turned Atheist because of a video her teacher forced her to watch. I think the older generations must not let their children be influenced by peers who always follow what is trendy.

We are in a generation where mocking Christianity is seen as cool.

Influencing of children and teens, and young adults seems to come in many forms, as in schooling and peer pressure, and video games. Where I work we have computers for use by the public and many children use these computers to play games. Most play the harmless ones but this week I was shocked to witness a video game one young eight year old was playing. I don't know the name of the game but it included a man who had super powers for brief periods of time and so used his gift in the most stupid ways.

This game of which young boys are copying in the streets, videos on utube, of trying to jump over moving cars is shown in the video as the man jumps cars and hits his head on the pavement leaving blood stains. He then drives his car over a cliff with no ill effects and lastly when police try to stop him he attacks and kills them and blood runs in the street. The child thought it was all so funny and told me he thought all police were evil and should die. I told him that was not true and he should not watch or play that video that it was sicking and bad influence and just plain wrong. He continued playing the game so I told my boss and she put a stop to it.

This game is like the old roadrunner and coyote cartoons where coyote jumped or fell off cliffs or was blow up and yet survived over and over again. The difference being was our parents told was it was not real and to do such things would be dangerous and most likely fatal.

And so it is with the millenials where they have been taught fake history and listened to people who have profited by American capitalism and yet teach hatred of our country and way of life. I would suggest anyone who believes that socialism or communism is better to go live in one of those government controlled countries and see how people are really treated before saying that american freedoms and way of life are so very wrong.

Isn't also part of the problem that honesty is punished by legality nowadays? To take a trivial example if you are in a car accident, the responsible driver can't say that it was their fault and take responsibility without being penalised by their insurance. The first thing any insurance company says when you take out the insurance is that if you are in an accident say nothing and let the companies sort it out. The drivers strictly aren't even allowed to say that they are sorry if someone got hurt.

Then there are politicians and leaders setting the bad example that they must never admit they are wrong or apologise, and that lying is far better. The people who lie, even when it is obvious, get off scot-free while the people who are honest get publicly destroyed by the media.

The world is getting more and more materialistic every day. Moral values are dead but there are some people exist in this world who are honest. Due to population and other problems, people are chasing for money and fame whether by fair or unfair means. I still believe that there are many good people in the world. God bless us all with honest thoughts.

I think honesty is on the verge of dying. Many people presently want to fake it till they make it. It has led to many throwing the virtue of honesty away. For instance, we see business people hoarding goods every day and using faulty weights. They try to reap more from the unsuspecting public. The Bible condemns such. The world has become intolerable to live in. Everyone wants the best for themselves. Greed has consumed us. However as jahanzeb ali qureshi put it, there are still good people who work hard and are honest in their day to day lives. I just hope that the situation gets better.

The society that we live in now promotes dishonesty from people - from the way they look physically, the way they dress and the way they behave in public - authentic people don't get recognition anymore. Case in point - Lady Gaga. I'll bet if you met the real person beneath all that make up, hair and clothes, you wouldn't know her. Our kids are learning to be the same and some think that it's 'cool' to pretend to be something you're not. In fact most people are putting more importance on how other people respond to them rather than how much in alignment with their higher self they are.

What do you mean by "higher self"?

                        God bless,

The world was not in this way. We are facing problem in this world because of our own mistakes. Dishonesty is one of them as it disturbs the whole system. We will get the same results of our intentions. So whenever we are having dishonesty in our mind for anyone then we should expect the same for us from everyone. There are a lot of honest and sincere people in this world.

I mean God (In this case) I guess I'm too used to speaking with people of all kinds of different 'beliefs' that I've been conditioned to not 'specify' when talking about things like this. In the above comment by higher self I meant something that is bigger than you, which in this case is God - so being in alignment with the commandments of God...
