Christforums

.... an orthodox (true and correct when contrasted with Liberal theology) Protestant forum whose members espouse the Apostolic doctrines in the Biblical theologies set forth by Augustine, Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin and John Knox etc. We do not "argue" with nor do we solicit the membership of people who espouse secular or cultic ideologies. We believe that our conversations are to be faith building and posts that advance heretical or apostate thinking will be immediately deleted and the poster permanently banned from the forum. This is a Christian Protestant community for people to explore the traditional theologies of Classical Protestantism.

Christian Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

One solution to stopping "fake news"? Invalidate press credentials!

Recommended Posts

The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?

:classic_laugh:Can you imagine? Some fake newser arrives at the White house and secret service steps up to escort that reporter off the property?

The first step to ending democracy is to control the press.

Remember that.

Remember that the President's definition of fake news starts with news that is reported that is negative of him. THEN he concerns himself a bit with the accuracy.

Sir Winston Churchill said: “A free press is the unsleeping guardian of every other right that free men prize; it is the most dangerous foe of tyranny… Under dictatorship the press is bound to languish… But where free institutions are indigenous to the soil and men have the habit of liberty, the press will continue to be the Fourth Estate, the vigilant guardian of the rights of the ordinary citizen.”

If anyone thinks the news media is terrible that's fine. If anyone thinks the president, any president controlling it is the answer, that is a terrible mistake.

You keep bring up 'controlling the press' and what evidence do you present to demonstrate that Trump is doing that?.....his complaints?.....his tweets?....does he hold press conferences daily?......does he speak to the press at events?.....does he do interviews?  So what if he hates his coverage, what president has not thought he was being treated unfairly in the press?

Ironic isn't it? Fake news thread contains fake claims against Trump?

Play my way or you can't report from the Whit House is no attempt to control the press.

But there is no requirement that the WH have press conferences.  Make the press go work (GASP!!!!  Now there's an idea) for their information.  Of course what they can't find they can always just make up.......

Ya know, it used to be if the WH did not have a press conference their info would not get out; they don't own radio, TV, printing presses so no conference no news.  Now days govt. can bypass the media with Facebook, You Tube, Twitter, Instagram and other social media to get their message out.  Trump is the first one to understand this and begin to use it bypassing the media and any bias they want to impose.  Now the media are always free to dissect it after it is out but it limits any spin they want to place on it.  It is actually a pretty smart move......

Whatever happened to the "nose for news" that reporters supposedly had?  Maybe it is time for them to go back to being reporters......

remember before trump started an anti fake news campaign, fake news was not a thing.  In other words before the election democrats were perfectly happy living with fake news they have had for years.   Then trump starts pointing fingers, and now everyone is pointing fingers.  But I believe google has the corner of the market on fake news, they promote snopes and even the snopes fact checking site  (yeah thats right snopes has a verification of the verification).  Thats pretty bad when you have to put up a whole site just to fact check yourself.  If you know what I mean.   And Google and snopes are far left in political affiliation.

Consider the schools today's "journalist" attend. They are only doing as taught. I dont believe they were taught to think .

I am as fond of the term "fake news" as I am of "the swamp". Both are tossed out too easily. And in cases they don't apply in my humble opinion.
