.... an orthodox (true and correct when contrasted with Liberal theology) Protestant forum whose members espouse the Apostolic doctrines in the Biblical theologies set forth by Augustine, Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin and John Knox etc. We do not "argue" with nor do we solicit the membership of people who espouse secular or cultic ideologies. We believe that our conversations are to be faith building and posts that advance heretical or apostate thinking will be immediately deleted and the poster permanently banned from the forum. This is a Christian Protestant community for people to explore the traditional theologies of Classical Protestantism.

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Romans 13:

  • Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.  Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.  For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.

A "servant" of God does not do his own will but the will of his master (God). Therefore, servants are subject to the will of God, and they are ordained to not only wield the sword but to actively seek out and combat evil.

When governing authorities no longer act according to the will of God as revealed in scripture they are tyrannic. The Geneva bible emphasized these points in its study notes, a bible which king James considered a threat to his office. For this reason the notes were deleted and subtle changes made in translation which overly emphasized (IMO) his office and/or government.

Take for example Obama's speech where he states that because God says abortion is wrong is not good enough. Obama states one must provide rational discourse in the arena of politics. Of course, as Christians we know this is wrong. Following Obama's logic we can argue that citizens should have the right to murder the first half black president (Obama). If we pose an argument which wins or provides more rationale then we win against the opposition. This is, of course absurd. Point being we know that murder of babies is wrong because we know God's will from scripture, we know that he hates the taking of innocent life. For this reason we are to rebel against the legalization of abortion and its tyrannical misuse of tax to pay for murder.

Obama, the poster child of the Liberal/Democrat party is therefore rebelling against the revealed will of God.

God bless,
