Christian Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Fasting for health benefits

Recommended Posts

Anyone here fast? I began fasting yesterday and plan on keeping my fast for seven days. I am only drinking liquids. I'm hoping to lose 20 lbs in two weeks. Ideally my weight should be 170-180 lbs but currently I weigh in at 219lbs which is down from 230 a month ago.

Do you think 20lbs in two weeks is excessive or healthy?

God bless,

William

That sounds like a lot in two weeks, I'm not a doctor, but don't work yourself into a heart attack or become dehydrated.

Fasting is a sure-fire way to get your body into ketosis and start burning fat for fuel, and you will most definitely lose weight.  However, when you break the fast you have to eat a keto diet or the weight will come right back on in a big hurry and it'll bring company along to stay.
