Christforums

.... an orthodox (true and correct when contrasted with Liberal theology) Protestant forum whose members espouse the Apostolic doctrines in the Biblical theologies set forth by Augustine, Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin and John Knox etc. We do not "argue" with nor do we solicit the membership of people who espouse secular or cultic ideologies. We believe that our conversations are to be faith building and posts that advance heretical or apostate thinking will be immediately deleted and the poster permanently banned from the forum. This is a Christian Protestant community for people to explore the traditional theologies of Classical Protestantism.

Christian Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Heather Heyer and the violence in Charlottesville, VA

Recommended Posts

Wrong on every single level out there. A car plowed into a crowd of counter- protestors in what seemed like a far right Nazi rally. This gathering was touted as a protest against removing a statue of Robert E. Lee from a local park, but apparently it was really an excuse for some sociopaths to get together and cause carnage: https://www.nationofchange.org/2017/08/13/charlottesville-not-protest-turned-violent-planned-race-riot/, https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2017/08/13/heather-heyer-community-mourns-woman-killed-charlottesville-attack/562776001/. Heather Heyer was the lone counter protestor fatality, but one life is too many. In this case, hers wasn't the only life lost: http://famososartistas.com/2017/08/13/more-people-dead-in-charlottesville-riots/.

Of course, these people hurt or killed on August 12 all have ( or had) families who were all affected by this tragedy. I pray to God that we all come together as Americans or this chaos will only get worse.

I do not know which is more saddening. Such a senseless death or a new poster child for the left.

I pray to God that we all come together as Americans or this chaos will only get worse.

Me too, but, this is exactly the only hope the left has. Create division, racial tensions, throw fuel on the fire and then appeal to the angry man.

That pretty much sums up the party's platform.

God bless,

William

That -- on top of the N.Korea situation. And then just the other day, the problems in -- and now I can't think of the name of the country. V.P. Pense was in that country. Up-risings all over the world. More and more, more frequently. We Are living in the end times. Then again, some women's labors are Long and Intense. And that's what the end times process is compared to.

I trust not in men, but God, I do not trust in an politics or one party, but in the Lord Jesus. My faith, hope, are not in men. Vote, but trust not to men.
