Christforums

.... an orthodox (true and correct when contrasted with Liberal theology) Protestant forum whose members espouse the Apostolic doctrines in the Biblical theologies set forth by Augustine, Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin and John Knox etc. We do not "argue" with nor do we solicit the membership of people who espouse secular or cultic ideologies. We believe that our conversations are to be faith building and posts that advance heretical or apostate thinking will be immediately deleted and the poster permanently banned from the forum. This is a Christian Protestant community for people to explore the traditional theologies of Classical Protestantism.

Christian Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Recommended Posts

Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul says that socialism ultimately fails and it is ultimately conservative values that encourage faith which will win the 2016 election.

"Paul said that liberals and socialists are focused solely on earthly issues and do not take spiritual issues into account."

That is obviously false. I'm a born-again Christian. And it's my Christian eschatology that compels me to be a liberal, democratic socialist.

Lets not forget the hypocrisy of the "leftist" professing Christians by who and what they support.

I agree with him wholeheartedly. Instead of storing gifts up in heaven where the heart follows the left wants to bribe its voter base with generous gifts out of the United States treasury.

I'd love to see a Democrat debate with one ground rule, any position of increased government spending on anything is off-topic. Of course, then the Democrats would then spend their time debating how to best to dictate, even micromanaging, how we live and work, according to their degenerate values.

Socialism doesn't work, and tyranny is the tool the government uses to try to make it work.

And what's the relevance of that to the question of democratic socialism? Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama (one a Republican, the other a Democrat) are both war criminals and both should be prosecuted for their war crimes. Mass murder, based on the lies of a secret tyrannical regime, is not democratic socialism.

George Bush and Obama are not running for President. I know I know. Your posts are repetitive Zog. And it is highly relevant when you post your support for the left while you profess Christianity, a party that boos God from its platform and supports the murder of innocent life. If a person demonstrates no respect for the sanctity of life in the most innocent and fundamental stage, why would anyone assume that they would show it for our soldiers?

Lastly, as long as the democrat/liberal party supports abortion I don't care what they promise from the U.S. treasury, it is bribe money stained in blood. Only an unjust and unrighteous person would even consider receiving it for their support. Abortion is non-negotiable. I will not even consider a candidate if they support it.

I am voting for Ted Cruz, matter of fact I just wrote on his website as long as his knee stays bent and his tongue confesses our Lord I have faith in God that He will lead him right. I would never get away with saying such a thing on a liberal candidate's website. The supporters would attack, mock, and try to discredit our faith. You're on the wrong side. And I'm not suggesting one should place their faith in man, but if a candidate supports murder of the unborn YOU shouldn't even consider them while professing Christianity in the same sentence. Covetousness and Idolatry at the expense of life best sums up the left.

I urge you to consider what is most important. Financial welfare or Life.

God bless,

William

It's interesting to me that Reichpublicans have nothing to say about the trillions wasted on committing war crimes.

You have the audacity to make an allusion to Nazi Germany over finances while it is the liberal left that legalizes the murder of the unborn, just as Nazi Germany legalized the murder of Jews. Incredible.

I don't know what you're talking about. I view the Reichpublicans and Democrats as approximately equally evil and both corporately guilty of indisputably satanic war crimes.

As I said, the Reichpublicans and Democrats are equally culpable in my point of view.

I think the military spending on weapons that attempt pin point accuracy rather than carpet bombing says they are making every effort to prevent that in war.

Christians from the left? Hardly Christians. Only his Zionism has me question his foreign policy. I can't think of Spiritual or Religious based reasons to accept his standing with Israel, but I can politically.

And Zog, if I came across as personally attacking you, I apologize.

God bless,

William

Socialism doesn't work, and tyranny is the tool the government uses to try to make it work.

Why should anyone believe that you are qualified to judge? According to http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/05/business/oecd-quality-of-life/ Australia has been revealed as the world's happiest industrialized nation. They say the country "down under" ranks at the top in civic engagement, which looks at voters' participation, among other criteria. It also comes out above average, in the list of 36 countries, in environmental quality, health status, housing, personal security, jobs and earnings, education and skills, subjective well-being, social connections, and income and wealth. By contrast, the tyranny of the United States over its own citizens and the world is well documented.

Ted Cruz was booed for his bigoted and ignorant Zionism. Israel persecutes Christians, as you'd find out if you tried to share your faith on the street. US Pro-Israel foreign policy, promoted by Zionists like Ted Cruz, is a huge part of why Christians are extremely persecuted in various middle-eastern countries. His Zionism is also a large part the cause of ending America's Christian culture. Aside from the disastrous consequences of Zionism, Zionism is also horrible theology.

Ted Cruz undermines all his conservative values with his Zionism.

The article states:

“If you ask Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton about the message of Jesus, they'd almost certainly tell you how we should tax the rich and redistribute wealth, not promote private charity and a culture of human dignity that transcends how much money exists in someone's bank account,” said Paul.

This statement is dishonest in that it ignores the fact that the rich have virtually complete control of the public trough. This undeniably well-documented gross inequity violates the fundamental principle of democratic socialism, which is that everyone is to be treated equally.

Paul then clarified that he does believe that we have an obligation to help our fellow man, but that “charity and good works are not the same as government enforced redistribution of wealth.”

In other words, Rand Paul believes that morality is good but that legislated morality is bad. That’s like admitting that abortions are crimes but that no civil restrictions should be imposed to restrain our selfish self-interests to have an abortion. It's the exact same logic.

“Socialism is a false idol that thrives on taking our individual Christian obligation of helping our neighbors and replacing it with government,” Paul continued.

No. The quintessence of socialism is the notion of contributing to our individual Christian obligation of helping our neighbors by having an automatic deduction from our paychecks. If some Christians had preferred charities, then I wouldn't mind it if those Christians signed up for automatic payroll contributions for them.

The false idol here is the first demon's message.

“If we want to live under a just and moral government, liberty should be our goal,” Paul concluded.

Unjust wars and monopolies are antithetical to liberty.

“The size of government is inversely proportional to individual liberty. Conservatives understand that as government grows our freedoms shrink."

The purpose of government is to restrain evil (Romans 13). The reason we hear so much anger and criticism of government is that our government has a very serious flaw. It is potentially democratic.

In the 2006 Israel/Lebanon war, Israel dropped literally millions of cluster bomblets. Israel had among the most advanced weaponry in the world, and they still chose the use of indiscriminate carpet bombing, in addition to "pin point accuracy" weapons. Cluster bombs were banned in 1993 by international treaty, but Israel is never expected to join treaties that the civilized world is expected to join, such as the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
