    replied to Circle hooks
I use circle hooks in oklahoma for Blue Catfish. I like them. You don't really set the hook or you will pull it out of their mouth. I think sometimes I do miss a few because of them, but I also think I catch a few that I wouldn't have because they hook themselves, so it all evens out. They certainly don't come off once they have been hooked with the circle.

Abuse is not abandonment. That is simply something that people make up in there mind to justify adultery....

    In 1 Corinthians 7:15
Paul says if an unbelieving spouse wants to depart then let them depart and the brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. Most everyone agrees that not being under bondage would imply that the a believer would no longer have an obligation to live a life of celibacy but be free to remarry without it being adultery in such cases where they were abondeoned by a non believer....

    replied to Happiness?
Happiness by the world's standards "I just want to be happy" does not exist in the kingdom of God. By virtue of the statement itself, it implies selfishness and that the individual is somehow the center of some realm they have created in their mind that exists for their pleasure. When in reality we were created for Gods pleasure and this is his realm not ours and our life isn't really about us at all. We exist because God wills it so. That is not to say that being his children He certainly loves us and created the earth for us to enjoy and live in, but that is quite secondary to submitting to his will and his way, but by doing that one can truly find peace.

Hey Bliss, the biblical view on marriage is very unpopular. You won't find many people that agree with it. Even here on a christian forum. Lots of people will quote the woman at the well and say you can have many husbands. But Jesus undid what Moses gave them remember. They were allowed to divorce because of the hardness of their hearts before the Holy Spirit came into the world to lead and guide us. Jesus took away all the petty reasons for divorce and said no more divorce unless someone is unfaithful. Paul added to it and said that if your abandoned by a non believer that your also not bound to your covenant. So your mom is the non believing spouse that left her first husband. How do we know this? Because the believing spouse that departs would remain unmarried or be restored to her husband. 1 Corinthians 7:10. Quite frankly it really doesn't matter if she gets a marriage license from whatever state she lives in, she is living in adultery. U.S. law does not trump Gods law. Just like...

No one really knows how these prophecies will be fulfilled. That just how prophecy works. Remember the Jews had hundreds of prophecies about the coming messiah, but they were so hung up on what they thought it would look like that they totally missed the fulfillmentnt of the prophecies. So everyone, my self included should probably be a little more open minded about the meaning of Daniel and Revelations....

Nobody said God wants you to be a republican, that's a bit off topic. What this thread is about is stating that a true follower of Christ, not just someone following a religious ideology would never vote for a democrat, knowing that no matter how "good" that individual democrat may be you are saying yes I belive in murdering unborn babies and yes I support same sex marriages (which by the way, is not even possible)....

You yourself have already openly admitted that this is no scripture that talks about this mysterious second coming that's not really a second coming because the actual second coming is later in time. Wow that hurts my head to try to unravel.... And you actually teach this?

Well to answer the question in the OP you have to define Christian a little better since it has clearly come to mean something very different than a follower of Christ. Can you be a born again believer filled with and lead by the Holy Spirit and vote Democrat? The answer to that question is a resounding "No". That's a hard response, but if you buy into the kingdom of God, you don't kill babies or legalize same sex marriage. I could go on.......

Your right about no scripture talking about the "rapture" because there is just the second coming of Christ. It's why its called the second coming and not the third! Read Matthew 24....

    Sure,

Mat 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

1Co 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
1Co 7:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife....

This is going to be an unpoplular statement. There is definitely a different standard for men than women on the topic of divorce and remarriage in the bible.

  • Why do you assume future marriages? If she is a believer she will either be praying for and seeking restoration or she will remain celibate. Either way believer or non- believer, yes you would be free to remarry, but remarrying a divorced woman gets a little sticky also....

  • if God didn't exist, how could something be defined as bad? If we are just a collection of cells that have electrical impulses making them move and that is all there is to life, then what would make one action or event good or bad over another? So you actually find the answer to the question within the question itself.

Your post is funny! For hundreds if not thousands of years transgenderism has been known as a psychological abnormality. A/k/a crazy! Are their legitimate issues with crazy people. Of course they are real issues. That doesn't mean that you start making laws to make crazy people think they are sane. Now that would also be crazy!!! Hint, hint....

How did this become about me???? Lol! I was just sharing with the OP a little, so he wouldn't think he is alone. Sometimes it can be a consolation to know that you are not the only person on the planet that doesn't 100% buy into to a particular denomination or church for the sake of religion. That being said, you make some valid points....

I had a guy tell me once, "If your looking for the perfect church, when you find it... They won't let you in." I took that to heart. I am absolutely "anti-denominations" I however am currently attending a denomination church. I don't care for it much when they talk about "the denomination" Since I just think there is one body of Christ and I am a part of that. However Logistically, everyone simply can not attend the same meeting house. So it only makes sense, we being humans that people that get together in one meeting house under one teacher, would eventually develop some differences. Maybe in the form of worship and maybe some doctrinal differences. I don't think many of the doctrinal differences are too much of a problem. Of course more and more in this modern church era, I feel like there is a lot of deceived people. Side Note: I don't consider absolute heresy doctrinal differences, I'm talking about the differences between the main line denominations...

Love can not exist with out free choice, God wanted us to have the perfect world, so he created it for us with love and for love. Because he loves us. But that also requires us to have the choice.

  • Who is "HE" in He left his wife, and please give me the scripture for that. I am not familiar with it. Secondly What don't you understand about the question? I thought it was pretty strait forward. If you divorce your spouse for any cause except for adultery and you remarry another then you are committing adultery. Now the gentleman has come to repentance because the goodness of God draws us to that and he is being convicted of living in adultery with another woman. I'm not sure why he's asking the question on here, if he's being convicted and wants to repent. I think we all know that repentance isn't just saying "I'm sorry" and continuing to live in Sin. Repentance means to turn away from your sin and not do it anymore. I caution everyone who wants to give unbiblical advise from the "Wisdom of Man" to reread Revelation 22:18-19. Then read Luke 14:26-33. Jesus does not sugar coat it. He isn't out giving a feel good message so he can get more attendance at...
