    Soul Mates

Nowhere is the concept of "soul mates" taught anywhere in the Bible. I don't normally reference this resource, but Got Questions actually has a pretty decent article on the topic: Is there such a thing as soul mates? Hope that helps. :)

Gay marriage is not allowed in any religion

Sadly, there are some liberal Christian sects that have embraced this form of rebellion and depravity. Historically, however, the Christian world was united in the notion that marriage consists of one man and one woman for life. For that matter, many sects take a pretty cavalier attitude towards divorce now, but I suppose that is off-topic. Anyway, there are those that claim to be Christian that call standing for Biblical marriage "being on the wrong side of history". Well, I rather that that being on the wrong side of eternity.
  3. I learned of this today. I used to listen to his program years ago, but stopped for a variety of reasons. It is curious he converted Eastern Orthodoxy. The reasons given in the article were, frankly, kind of vague. Some years back I did a study of the Orthodox churches, and while interesting from a historical standpoint, I found the theology suspect. Thoughts on this development? Thoughts on Orthodoxy in general? How about evangelicals leaving for said religion?

    Do you believe in horoscopes?

No, I sure don't. Of all the mystical woo-woo nonsense, horoscopes rank pretty high on the nonsense scale. I just don't take any stock in them. God in charge, so there is no need to read what vague prophecies a huckster scribbled out. Only slightly less silly is the practice in some parts, including here, of "planting by the signs". That is sewing by the astrological signs. It is still nonsense and I prefer to do our growing by common sense, good agricultural practice and, naturally, the will of the Lord.

    "Like" System Has Been Removed

I sort of liked the "like" system as it could provide a positive "thank you" to a poster. I suppose it could be abused, but I never really saw it as such. On the other hand, as mentioned in the post, perhaps it is just better to reply with a word of encouragement instead.

    Transgender

Agreed. The whole transgender thing is an assault on reality and on God's design, which includes the genders. The fact this "discussion" is even going on is an example of how thoroughly sick society has become. We must protect the mind's of our wee ones from this and hold fast to what is true.

Can non Christians go to heaven?

To answer your main question, no, one cannot be saved with Christ (John 14:6). The examples you cited (living in an extremist Islamic country or under a Communist regime) are very difficult situations, but, remember, discipleship isn't easy for anyone, and most difficult for others. There are many who have came to faith and persevered under horrid conditions. Others perished. Ultimately, the Christian must "not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28). If you are interested in historical examples of martyrdom, one text that I can recommend is The Martyrs Mirror. The text is available free here and the illustrations here. If you wish to have a bound copy in your library, a publishing house that can supply said is Pathway Publishers (43632 CR 390, Bloomingdale, MI 49026). God bless.

    Men who won't marry

Interesting point, Tony. And the model that, I think, that is more fitting for the Christian is "courtship" rather than "dating". There is a difference in both the goal and how one goes about said. It isn't really a new concept either, but rather an old one that worked pretty well over the years. And, on a personal note, it worked for our family. We've been happily married for many years and have two little ones. :)
  10. I thought this might be both a fun and stimulating hypothetical question. If you could sit down with and talk over theology with any theologian in church history, who would it be? For the sake of the discussion, it would not be a person who's words or actions were recorded in the Bible, but who came afterward (First century to the present). Who's your choice and why?

    Martin Luther - PBS Documentary

Thank you for the share. I've bookmarked this one as I love church history. The period of the Reformation is particularly interesting. Tangentially, I generally don't go to the cinema. I did make an exception when the film Luther, starring Joseph Fiennes, came out. :)

    Locusts of Revelation 9

The YouTube video doesn't load. However, I googled the author, LA Marzulli. Wowzer, that individual is into some very wacky stuff, not the least of which space aliens and alleged hybrids created with said. No thanks. I think I'll stick to regular theological texts concerning the last book of the Bible.
  13. I noticed with a recent change that the navigation text (Home > Main Forums >) is tiny. At first I thought it was just the device I was on, but now I've tried it on a Windows 7 machine (huge monitor), a Windows XP at work (medium sized monitor) and a MacBook Air (small-ish screen) and it all shows up the same on Chrome. Men who won't marry

Christ told the woman caught in adultery to "go and sin no more." (John 8:11) "If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over."—Matthew 18:15 "But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you." — 1 Corinthians 5:11-13

    Traditional Hymns or Contemporary Music?

Sign me up for "Traditional". Real traditional. I can think of only like one contemporary Christian song I'm aware of and like. ;)
