Knowing Christ Crucified All The Time

1 Cor. 2:2 "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." One of my favorite verses. We are to think of ourselves dead to this world. We have already given up on our life's hopes and dreams. Not a thing matters to the dead. Sin, disappointment and happiness are just temporary states that we repent of and move along. Everything that we used to desire is thrown out. We have lost this life that we might gain life with Christ. God's grace should be sufficient for now. We just love one another and bide our time, knowing all things work for our overall good (Rom. 8:28).

    Absolute Predestination

I fully in believe predestination. I also believe we will never fully understand it while we live in the flesh. Some things will just have to wait until we no longer looking through glass darkly (1 Cor. 13:12). I believe predestination does not negate our choices. How they work together is just speculation and above my current pay grade. Nuff said.
  3. Bottom line is this: We simply are not told everything God did while creating. We can meditate and speculate all we want, but if it wasn't recorded in scripture we simply can't know for sure. Why do we humans feel we need solutions to everything that touches our lives? Does it bother us so much that God might not have shared everything with us? Maybe our finite minds can't quite grasp it anyway. I am content to leave some things unanswered, in this life.

    California fires again

My first wife's parents bought a retirement place about two and a half miles from Paradise around 1970. We stayed there a couple times while vacationing. They are gone now and it's just as well. I can't imagine all those pine trees gone.

    Can God Not Be

It may be easy to say I believe in God's existence, but obedience to God is our proof of that belief. I can lose faith in God's promises and even turn my back on God. Then what have I really lost faith in: I would say in myself. We must continue to believe God and His calling on our lives. It will show in how we live our lives. So we seek God by obedience.

  10. They say that volcano activity has more to do with CO2 buildup than burning fossil fuels. Global warming and cooling seem to be a natural occurrence. If we just would stop clear cutting our rain-forests and watched our fossil fuel consumption, I think we will be okay.

    Struggling with repentance

Methinks it is always the devil getting you to look at how bad are past sins were. Anytime he can keep us looking back we are not going forward. We cannot sin bad enough to lose God's love. Isa. 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isa. 43:25 "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." I believe it is a matter of "case closed."

Hello Brian, welcome to Christforums. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here.
  14. Indeed, the law was the instruction book to life for Israel. Unless one meditates on why God established this or that, we will never keep the deeper intent of the law. In God's word are clues to the very character of God. The very same character traits that Jesus walked the earth with. That meditation is part of seeking God with all your heart, mind and soul.
  15. This was just the start of a new covenant, Paul was addressing the prophecy in Joel. Joel 2:28,29 are defined as happening after the Day of the Lord (Joel 2:1-3). I still contend we are not in this covenant yet. Is the knowledge of the Lord so prevalent that everyone know His ways? Heb. 8:11 "And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest." No, it hasn't happened yet.
