What does "water" refer to in John 3:5?

My Bible & the 50 other versions I've read the verse on (biblegateway.com) say BORN. You then claim born means death. 2ndly Jn the Baptist Baptism of Repentance was what Nicodemus would have understood. Nicodemus couldn't be born of Spirit, It hadn't been given yet. Jn 7:39. Yes Jesus has it. But, the promise the Father has made is the Son will control it after he has been glorified/resurrected. The Baptism Paul writes about in Col can't be tied to This verse in John, because it didn't exist yet. The Genesis scripture you've tied in has nothing to do with either Baptist. Nor being born of flesh or of spirit.

(NOTE: John 14:1-3 Jesus while explaing His coming for the Church says be not troubled. Secondly the day of Christ or the Day of the Lord that lasts 1000 yrs See 2 Pet 3:8 & Ps 90:4. Begings with 7 years of tribulation. 1 Thess 4:16 & these 1st 7 verses in 2 Thes 2 teach a physcial departure. Then the man of sin will be revealed) 4 Which is an adversary, and exalteth himself against all that is called God, or that is worshipped: so that he doth sit as God in the Temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? Repentance

Again, neither Acts 17 or Acts 20 state repentance as a requirement for salvation If repentance of SIN/SINS is a requirement for salvation. Why didn't God required these gentiles to first repent of their sins. BEFORE baptizing them in the Holy Spirit? Which is an eternal seal of salvation: see SEALED below SEALED Acts 10: 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. (NOTE: THEY BELIEVED (vs43) AS PETER SPOKE (vs44) NO REPENTANCE OF ANYKIND! NO WATER BAPTISM, NO LAW KEEPING. BY FAITH & FAITH ALONE THESE GENTILES RECEIVED THE (seal) BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (vs45) 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. SEALED 2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. The Nation of Israel is a called out assembly. Program 1 The Body of Christ is a called out assembly. Program 2. The two are completely separate programs. Program 1 required works via Mosaic Law & repentance for breaking covenant with God Jer 31:32 Gentiles never had a law covenant with God. Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Program 2 requires Faith in the sacrificial, redemptive, PAID IN FULL. Sin atoning sacrifice, found in the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus the Christ. Rom 3:21 Mixing the two programs invariably leads to doctrinal misinterpretations Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Works based doctrine are opposite of the facts. It makes salvation about you/us & robs Christ of the glory to be found in his selfless, sacrificial sin atoning payment Finally Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift ofGod: NO REPENTANCE MENTIONED I Cor 15:1-4 NO REPENTANCE MENTIONED Rom 10:8-15 NO REPENTANCE MENTIONED Ehp 1:13 NO REPENTANCE MENTIONED
  4. Those who choose to believe still have the Adamic nature. They can still lie or hate (many do). They enter heaven by faith in the redemptive -PAID IN FULL - work of Christ. These people that didn't life to or were mentally able to make a faith choice. Will fall under the blood sacfifice & receive an incorruptible spiritual body. Therefore no God haters will ever enter.

    Baptismal Regeneration

A few types of baptism Baptism of repentance - for Nation of Israel only: - Under the Gospel of the Kingdom message: Baptism of repentance was John the Baptist ministry for the Nation of Israel only. A call of Repentance from breaking their 1st covenant with the LORD Jeremiah 31:32. Water baptism here is Jewish purification/cleasning doctrine preparing themselves for the soon coming prophesied & promised Messiah. John the Baptist proclaimed: Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: (THE COMING MESSIAH WILL BAPTISE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT & WITH FIRE) The baptism into Christ's body via the Holy Spirit. Matt 3:11 & Luke 3:16. Is a covenant of spiritual circumcision, done without hands and without water. Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision """made without hands""", in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: NOTE: Translators Capitalized Spirit in the beginning & end of the vs. signifying deity/Godhead. 1 Cor 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (BY """ONE SPIRIT""" THE """HOLY SPIRIT""" WE ARE BAPTIZED BY CHRIST, INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST. NOBODY GETS WET) Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism Deut 30:6 (A) The LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter (Law) HERES WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MOMENT YOU ACCEPT CHRIST: Eph 1:3 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed ""ye were sealed with that holy Spirit''" of promise (WHATS THE "GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION"? AFTER YOU BELIEVED IN THE SIN ATONING DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. YOU WERE - "PAST TENSE"" SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT) 14 Which is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession (YOUR SALVATION WAS SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT & IS GUARANTEED BY GOD. AT THE MOMENT YOU PLACED YOUR FAITH/BELIEF/TRUST IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) Ephesians 4:30 Grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. New Testament Baptism in water: Water baptism is an emblem of the true spiritual baptism/circumcision. Water baptism is an outwardly public profession of dying to sin, being buried (when we go under) and of being raised together with Christ in new spiritual resurrection life. John 12:24 Verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground & die, "it abideth alone" "but if it die" "it bringeth forth much fruit" (ONE MUST DIE TO SELF IN ORDER TO BRING FORTH GODLY FRUITS. NOT TO BE SAVED. ONLY FAITH IN CHRIST IS REQUIRED FOR SALVATION!) NO WATER USED AT THESE BAPTISMS EITHER: Mark 10:38 Jesus said can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? (Jesus is speaking of His baptism into death. NO WATER USED!) 1 Peter 3:20 talks about the days of Noah and eight souls were saved by water. They were inside the Ark. NO WATER USED! 1 Cor 2:10 when the Nation passes through the red sea and were baptised into Moses. They crossed on dry land. NO WATER USED! Acts 1:5 (Temple Mt/Pentecost) John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. NO WATER USED! 1 Cor 12:13 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. BY THE """HOLY SPIRIT""" WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST. NO WATER USED! The baptism of Fire: Fire is a symbol of judgment. See Isaiah 5:24, Isaiah 66:24. John the Baptist spoke of this: Its for unbelievers at the final judgment. Like the Baptizm of the Holy Spirit, only Christ the final judge can can baptize with an everlasting judgment. Maranatha
  6. Because of mankind's willful fall (adam & eve) All people born, Are born a sinner. Jesus being the only sinless person. His father was the Holy Ghost. If We Are All Born Sinners Rom 3:23 What happens to children & unborn when they die? Sin is a willful act of rebellion against God on the part of an individual. Clearly, an infant or young child is not capable of such a willful act. (Romans 3:9-18 ) We must be careful not to confuse bad behavior or early signs of willful actions on the part of children with sin. Such behavior does not necessarily indicate that a child has knowingly sinned. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. (eze 18:20) Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin. (Deuteronomy 24:16) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. (2 Corinthians 5:10) Similarly, the Bible indicates that salvation is a deliberate act of faith on the part of individuals. To exercise this choice, persons must be able to make certain distinctions. They must be aware they are sinners before God and be able to repent (change direction) of that rebellious life-style. They must be capable of transferring trust to Jesus as personal Savior and Lord. They must be able to understand that their life-styles should be patterned after the example of Christ (Romans 10:9-14). Obviously, an infant, young child or the mentally challenged cannot make these distinctions and cannot be responsible for making such a decision. They all go onto eternal life in the presents of their creator.

    Repentance

Thanks for trying to help, I see nothing where Paul ties repentance to personal sin or salvation in either verse. Acts 17 makes no mention of repentance as a requirement for ones salvation. Acts 20 has the article """towards""" God. No mention of sin/sins as a requirement for salvation. 2ndly, If repentance of SIN/SINS is a requirement for salvation. Why didn't God required these gentiles to first repent of their sins before Baptizing them in the Holy Spirit, which is an eternal seal of salvation: see below Acts 10: 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. (NOTE: NO REPENTANCE, NO WATER BAPTISM. NO LAW KEEPING. BY FAITH & FAITH ALONE THESE GENTILES RECEIVED THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT) 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. SEALED 2Co_1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. Eph_1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph_4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Who places limits on Christ's atonement, God or man?

I respectfully disagree: Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (IT'S GOD'S GIFT OF GRACE = UNDESERVED/UNEARNED FAVOR. THAT WE ACCESS THRU OUR FAITH IN CHRIST'S SIN ATONING SACRIFICIAL REDEMPTIVE PAYMENT OF JESUS THE CHRIST) I Corinthians 15: (AMP) 1 Now brothers and sisters, let me remind you [once again] of the good news [of salvation] which I preached to you, which you welcomed and accepted and on which you stand [by faith]. (GOOD NEWS I.E. THE GOSPEL OF SALVATION) 2 By this faith you are saved [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose], if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain [just superficially and without complete commitment]. (SAVED THROUGH FAITH) 3 For I passed on to you as of """first importance""" what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to [that which] the Scriptures [foretold], ("""FIRST IMPORTANCE""") 4 and that He was buried, and that He was [bodily] raised on the third day according to [that which] the Scriptures [foretold], ("""FIRST IMPORTANCE""" IS HOW CHRIST DIED, WAS BURIED & RESURRECTED ON THE 3RD DAY) Rom 10: 8 The word is near you, even in your mouth, & in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach 9 If you will confess with thy mouth that Jesus is Lord, & and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved 10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (GOD CREDITS OUR BELIEF IN JESUS RESURRECTION WITH A DECLARATION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. SALVATION COMES WHEN WE CONFESS JESUS AS LORD & BELIEVE HE ROSE FROM THE GRAVE) 11 For the scripture says, Whoever believes on Jesus shall not be ashamed. (Whoever BELIEVES! Places their FAITH in Jesus. Not who ever works for it!) 12 There is no difference between the Jew & the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him 13 13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (CONFESS JESUS DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION & BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE GRAVE. AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!) HERES WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MOMENT YOU ACCEPT CHRIST: Eph 1:3 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed ""ye were sealed with that holy Spirit''" of promise (WHATS THE "GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION"? AFTER YOU BELIEVED IN THE SIN ATONING DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. YOU WERE - "PAST TENSE"" SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT) 14 Which is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession (YOUR SALVATION WAS SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT & IS GUARANTEED BY GOD. AT THE MOMENT YOU PLACED YOUR FAITH/BELIEF/TRUST IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) John 5:24 Jesus said; Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and """shall not come into condemnation""" (HE THAT ""BELIEVES"" ON JESUS SIN ATONING DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION. "not works for" HAS "present tense" ETERNAL LIFE. AND WILL NEVER BE """CONDEMNED""" "judged for any sin". JESUS PAID FOR ALL THEIR SINS) Believers "HAVE' (Present Tense) Eternal Life John 3:16 God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (Believers in the Son """HAVE-PRESENT TENSE""" everlasting life) Believers Have Eternal Life John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son "hath" everlasting life & he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (WHOEVER BELIEVES ON JESUS """HAS-PRESENT TENSE""" ETERNAL LIFE. "BELIEVE" on the "SON" & you """HAVE""" Eternal Life!) Unbelievers Are Condemned John 3:18 But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (Unbelievers in the son """ARE (already-right now) & WILL be CONDEMNED""". Don't Believe = """UNBELIEF""" = NON-BELIEVERS will face the wrath of God") All of the above paths to salvation are by our choice. A sinless Christ's finished redemptive work, PAID IN FULL & met the laws required wage for sin = DEATH. We must CHOOSE to place our faith in his sin atoning death, burial & resurrection. Maranatha

    Repentance

A question on repentance. I can't find ANY scripture. Where Paul, chosen by the RISEN Christ himself & sent to the gentiles - Acts 26:16-17. And intrusted by direct revelation (Eph 3:3) from the RISEN Christ himself with the hidden mystery/secret (Rom 16:25) KJV Dictionary Definition: MYS'TERY, n. L. mysterium; Gr. a secret. This word in Greek is rendered also murium latibulum; but probably both senses are from that of hiding or shutting; Gr. to shut, to conceal. 1. A profound secret; something wholly unknown or something kept cautiously concealed Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the """revelation""" of the """mystery""", which was """kept secret""" since the world began, Eph 3:3 How that by """revelation""" he made known unto me the """mystery""" 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: 7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the """mystery""" which from the beginning of the world hath been """hid in God""" who created all things by Jesus Christ: Eph 5:32 This is a """great mystery""": but I speak concerning Christ and the church. My question: Please provide the scripture where Paul teaches repenting from sin is a requirement for salvation. Please don't send verses where John the Baptist (sent to Jews under the law) & preached the Baptism of Repentance. I HAVE ALL THESE SCRIPTURES I'm not looking for any of Peters (An Apostle to the Jews) teachings on repentance. I HAVE ALL THESE SCRIPTURES I'm not asking for scripture where Jesus, while alive, sent to Jews under the law also, speaks about repentance. I HAVE THESE TOO. I'm asking for scripture where Paul. Sent to Gentiles by direct revelation from the RISEN Christ. Paul the wise masterbuilder (1 Cor 3:10-17) of the Body of Christ = Church. Built with Christ as the only foundation. Please provide the scripture where Paul teaches repenting from your sins is a requirement for salvation?
  12. Calvin's failure: Calvin maintain's that God limits Christ's atonement. Calvin say's; God place's on Christ, "only", the sins of those, whom, God himself has chosen for salvation. The real question is: Who places limits on Christ's atonement, God or man? 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also """for the sins of the whole world""". John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, """which taketh away the sin of the world""". John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give """for the life of the world""". 1 Timothy 2:6 Who """gave himself a ransom for all""", to be testified in due time. The most common is that, if God is all-loving, how could Christ not die for everyone? Doesn’t God love each and every person. THESE VERSES SHOW HE LOVES """ALL""" 1 John 2:2 """for the sins of the whole world""", John 1:29 """which taketh away the sin of the world""", John 6:51 """for the life of the world""", 1 Timothy 2:6 Who """gave himself a ransom for all""" These 4 verses show Christ's death paid for EVERY sin & His payment encludes EVERY person """ALL""". But it dosn't do ANYONE any good """""until they appropriate Christ's sin atoning redemptive sacrifice by faith/belief"""". THESE VERSES SHOW ITS ONLY OUR CHOICE THAT LIMITS ATONEMENT John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Believers Have Eternal Life John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son "hath" everlasting life & he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (WHOEVER BELIEVES ON JESUS """HAS""" PRESENT TENSE ETERNAL LIFE) Unbelievers Are Condemned John 3:18 But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (Unbelievers in the son ARE ALREADY & WILL be condemed) EVERYONE HAS A CHOICE: "BELIEVE" on the "SON" & you """HAVE""" Eternal Life! Or "don't Believe & face the wrath of God" John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (NOTE: ""ETERNAL LIFE"" & """THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH""". NOT UNTIL THE NEXT TIME YOU MAKE A MISTAKE) John 11:26 Jesus said; whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN JESUS. SHALL NEVER DIE) Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UOPN THE NAME OF JESUS. SHALL BE SAVED) Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. (WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN JESUS. SHALL NOT BE ASHAMED) 1 John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. (WHOSOEVER SHALL CONFESS JESUS. WILL RECEIVE GOD"S HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN) Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. The only limit on ones salvation is: Choice (A) Receive God's grace & place your FAITH in the Sin Atoning Sacrifice found in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus the Christ Choice (B) Reject God's grace remain in unbelief. The only unforgivable sin, I.E. blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is UNBELIEF! A favorite Calvinist scripture: John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: (Here Christ is alive & has yet to fulfil the laws reqiured payment for sin) News Alert Christ has made the payment: Note """ALL""" in the verse. Will be drawn: John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, """will draw all men unto me""". (The call to salvation is extended to everyone. But, salvation comes only to those who are willing to believe.) (A sinless Christ, 1 Pet 2:22, 2 Cor 5:21, Heb 4:15, 1 Jn 3:5 1 Pet 1:19. Christ didn't pay for his own sins, HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY. Christ died and paid for the sins of every believer. That ""chooses"" to accept God's grace & place's thier FAITH in the Sin Atoning Sacrifice found in Christ's Death, Burial and Resurrection.
