    Hi, everyone and peace!

Here are two other non-biblical teaching of the deuterocanonical books. Salvation by works such as found Tobit 12:9 which states "For almsgiving [works] saves one from death and expiates [removes] every sin.” Another is prayers for the dead as found in 2 Maccabees 12:39–46,"It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins. The Roman Catholic Church did not officially canonize the Apocrypha until the Council of Trent (1546 AD). This was in part because the Apocrypha contained material which supported certain Catholic doctrines, such as purgatory, praying for the dead, and the treasury of merit all of which are un-biblical doctrines which smell like smoke.

    Hi, everyone and peace!

Well I can't speak for all 900 million Protestants but since I am a born again Christian chosen before the foundation of the world by God the Father to be in Christ I will speak for myself. I have been saved for over 43 years and I have heard of the Books of Enoch. In my research of those books however I have discovered that only Ethiopian Jews (Beta Israel) and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church consider the Books of Enoch to be inspired. While some Protestant Christian denominations may accept the Books of Enoch as having some historical or theological interest, they generally regard the Books of Enoch as non-canonical and/or non-inspired. Personally, I believe that these historical books are good reading but either reading them or not reading them will affect my relationship with God one way or the other unlike the inspired texts which lead us to a more excellent understanding of our God's will for our lives.

    The Reformation?

I belong to The Church of Peter! Peter ate fish and he ate bread. He also drank wine. The bible never says he ate or drank anything else so anyone who eats beef, or lamb, or pork, or mutton, or chicken, or turkey, or bison, or eels, or eats potatoes, or vegatables, or fruit, or salads; or drinks water, or 7UP or Pepsi, or Coca Cola or beer, or lemonade or ice tea is wrong and will go to hell!!! :-)
  4. I was an unsaved young man who married an unsaved young woman by a pastor that was also unsaved in a chuch that has not preached "ye must be born again" for over 100 years. Four years later, she finds the "perfect man" of her "dreams" and has a three month sexual affair. I discover it and confront her. So instead of asking for forgiveness and trying to reconcile she sues me for divorce, goes to court and gets the divorce so she could live with Mr. Perfect Dream forever. (It lasted about three months.) I felt the gentle pull of God in my heart so of course I went back to The Church of Unsaved "Christians" where I assumed I could find God but He didn't show up. After two more attempts to find God in that denomination by going to two other churches in town of that same denomination I attended a different one that was suggested by an old friend who had had (as I remembered it) some sort of a spiritual awakening a couple years before. As I sat in the pew I again felt the drawing of God in my heart and when the pastor asked if anyone would like to come forward to receive Christ, I walked forward and received Christ as my Lord and Savior. My life changed 180 degrees almost overnight. Since that church was a two hour drive, I decided to attend one that was just around the corner from where I lived. I was warmly welcomed by the elders and one of them asked if he and another elder could stop by my home for a friendly conversation. We met the following evening. After a few nice formalities I told them what had recently happened to me. They told that since I was divorced I could never remarry anyone except my former wife. I told them she was not saved and I was NOT going to marry an unsaved woman. They said that was my problem not theirs and remarriage was the unforgivable sin. They also said my hair (that covered the tops of my ears as this was 1975) was "too long" and the bible says men with long hair is a disgrace. They ordered me to get a haircut. They also gave me a little book of their churches history and I "discovered" that their church and theirs only had the correct name, was founded by Jesus Christ on the cross in AD 33 and furthermore they were the only Christians that will be in heaven because they don't use musical instruments in worship. I left them. A year later I married a wonderful Christian woman and in two more months we will celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. PTL. God is good.

The Pelagian Captivity of the Church

If the choice to receive Christ as Lord and Saviour rests with the natural man no one will ever be saved and Christ's death was and is null and void, but if it is God who chooses whom He will bestow salvation upon and adopt into His family, then Christ's death was for those whom He chose which is a predetermined amount of people, known as the elect.

    Total Depravity Verse List

Good stuff. How some Christians stick to their unbiblical "man is basically good" stuff is beyond me.
  7. The passage you quoted John 1:33 plainly indicates that there is but one baptism. In this passage Christ was being baptized in water and simultaneously He was baptized with the Holy Spirit as have all believers ever since. Eph 1:3 says that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. "Every" of course would mean the blessing of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life. Also in Eph 4:4-6 the Apostle Paul says there is only "one baptism" not two.
  8. "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Eph 4:4-6. When we were water baptized we were also baptized with the Holy Spirit. Prior to Christ's coming to earth there was only one baptism, water baptism (Jesus called it "John's baptism") and now we still have only one, but we get the additional benefit of the Holy Spirit which the OT saints didn't get.

    Young earth evidence

Six times in Genesis the term "and there was morning and evening" is used to tell how much time there was in one day in biblical times and it was twenty four hours back then just like it is today. Evolutionists claim that the earth is 4.5 billion years old which means "morning and evening" in the bible equals 750,000,000 years for each of the six morning and evenings. So using this same "day" reasoning Jonah spent 22,500,000,000 years in the belly of a great fish! That means Jesus is still in the tomb because He said "Just as Jonah was in the belly of a great fish three days so shall the Son of God be in the belly of the earth three days". Okay, lets subtract 2000 years from 22,500,000,000 and at that time Jesus will be resurrected from the grave. Utterly ridiculous. As far as "ancient" Webster says that the word means "many years." Since God created the earth approximately 8,000 years ago and the Psalms were written approximately in the year 1440 BC that would make the mountains and hills about 6500 years old in the Psalmists day. I'd say something that is 6500 years would be ancient.

    Can Satan Deceive God’s Elect?

I had a visit from a demon yesterday. It was terrifying but at the same time I felt that God was protecting me. If you would like to hear more, let me know.
