Most Americans Don’t See Sin in Divorce

Recommended Posts

Most Christians don't see divorce as sin. I'm reminded that in the last episode of AD The Bible Continues, a Holy Spirit-filled Christian twice tries to get Pontius Pilate's wife to divorce Pilate "for Jesus". This obscenity is what passes for Christian television.

Billy Graham's Grandson, Tullian Tchividjian, was recently forced to resign as lead pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for adultery. Yet, looking at his Facebook page, you'd never conclude that he thinks he did anything wrong. He plays the victim (to be fair, he says his wife cheated on him first), pitying himself and wallowing in therapeutic deism (which seems this thing, even before the adultery). This is how even conservative Churches respond to even the perpetrators of divorce. They might say divorce is a sin, but they don't treat it as a sin. The next step is no longer believe divorce is a sin.

Tullian Tchividjian says he now understands people who commit suicide. Too bad he doesn't understand how his version of Christianity got him to a place of such misery to understand people who commit suicide. (Regretfully, I think it's only a matter of time before his wife files for divorce.)
