    God doesn't judge people according to the details they know. However:

    Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

        They will be judged and punished according to the light they have. That is only in terms of the extent of their punishment. We sinners think God owes us something and find it most unjust to deal with us in such fashion? The fallen children of Adam get what they deserve. There is no injustice in this at all! Just as the passage in Romans quoted above tells us. This ought to humble those of us who have experienced God's magnificent salvation! Blessed be His name!

          The concept that we're all sinners isn't biblical, nor is the concept that we're judged according to an amount of light. The only extent of punishment for sinners is absolute. But, you are right that sinners get what they deserve.

          The saved are those God has chosen for himself. They are counted as sinless and their character is that they seek righteousness.

            I disagree, Cornelius. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is none righteous, no, not one. There is none that seeketh after God. Any man who says they are without sin is a liar and the love of the Father is not in them. Those who are judged by God to be unrepentant sinners and die in their unbelief are judged so by what is in their hearts. We are all judged by what is in the heart, only by God, saved and unsaved. OT saints did not hear the Gospel, but some believed in the Redeemer and it is by this belief they and we are saved - John 3:16. There is no Biblical teaching about how much light a person has, just that believers are to let our light be seen.

              We're told the righteous shall live by faith. If there are no righteous, then who is the Bible talking about every time, sometimes by name, when it refers to the righteous? The verses that speak of all having sinned doesn't necessarily mean a present state of being. We were sinners Rom 5:8.

              1 Cor 6:9-12 Do you not know that the unrighteous [sinners] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

              Romans 3:10 As it is written: “None is righteous [aorist, not present tense], no, not one"... 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

              Yes, we are judged by the law God has written in our hearts.

                I should have put in verse 9: What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

                We are still sinful. Our will still struggles against the will of God internally, though His will ultimately prevails: Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven. He judges the heart of every man, as only He can do. We can't even judge our own hearts: The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it? David asked God to examine his heart so that he might not sin against God because David knew he could not accurately examine his own heart. It goes beyond the law being written there, though that is part of it. The law doesn't save; we are saved by faith in Christ alone. If you tell me you have never, since becoming a believer, had evil thoughts or acted in an ungodly manner, I find that impossible to believe... nothing personal, as we all are sinners in need of Jesus as a propitiation for all our sins, including future ones. Why would we be told to ask forgiveness if we no longer sin? Perfectionism, that is that we instantly become perfect once we become believers is false doctrine. We are to spend our lives striving for perfection, like running a race. Jesus is the finisher of our faith. We are no longer dead in sins, as we were quickened by the Holy Spirit, who teaches us not to sin and how to glorify God according to His purpose.
