  • Trump on Same-Sex Marriage: ‘Supreme Court Has Already Settled These Cases’

President-Elect Donald Trump said that the issue of same-sex marriage has already been decided by the Supreme Court and he is "fine" with that.

“It’s law,” Trump said in an interview with CBS’ "60 Minutes" that aired Sunday. “It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean it’s done.”

Trump has been called the “most LGBT-friendly Republican running for president” by various sources, and it appears from the “60 Minutes” interview that he may also be the most LGBT-friendly Republican president as well.

Although during the primaries Trump said, if elected, he would consider appointing Supreme Court justices who would overrule the Obergefell decision which legalized gay marriage and even stated that the gay marriage decision should have been left up to the states, he has since tempered his stance.

“These cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They’ve been settled. And I’m – I’m fine with that,” he said.

The official Republican party position opposes same-sex marriage and condemns the Obergefell decision, also calling for legislation to protect the religious freedom of business owners who object to serving gay people.

On the issue of abortion, however, Trump said he remains committed to appointing pro-life Supreme Court justices who may overturn Roe v. Wade.

"If it ever were overturned, it would go back to the states," he said.

We can't get everything we want at once. We should work with Trump to stop abortion and pray that he changes his mind about same sex marriage. The best thing we can do regarding Trump is to pray that God saves him and that he begins basing his decisions on the Bible.

I am sure that Trump has been told to stay in the shallow side of the pool until he has raised his hand at the inauguration. Altthough there are some nay sayers in the mix, the election still isn't over until he is given the high sign by Congress.
As the present resident in the White House said to Putin, "I can do what I want after I'm president." Until Trump is actually the president of the U.S.A. he doesn't need to make any ripples in the water much less any waves.

      God Bless.........Bobby

Trump will do nothing about SSM or deportation of illegals. Don't get me wrong. I wish that he would, but he won't.

We could begin Common Sense curriculum at young ages and also put these actual signs by the border crossings.
