    Favorite hymns and songs.

    What are some of your favorite hymns?

    Some of mine are: It is will with my soul, a beautiful song from a real life experience of deep sorrow yet peace in God's sovereignty and thankfulness of Christ sacrifice on the cross.

    When the role is called up yonder, it was my grandmothers favorite.

    Jesus loves me. Although it's usually sung as a children's song I still love this simple message of Christ love.

      Trivia question, from which theological camp was the author of Amazing Grace from? Example: Arianism, Pelagian, Semi-Pelagian, Arminian, Calvinism, Universalism?

      Answer: John Newton was a Calvinist!

      God bless,
      William

        Nice. I added to my list more songs that I like. There are many more great ones but I put my favorites down.

          The song itself awnsers the question. Otherwise the song would be amazing works. Lol. Joking, but not really.

            That was a bit of a cheap shot ... but it was funny. Two thumbs up.

          Hymns:

          My most favorite is a little hymn "Praise God, from whom all blessings flow".

          Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
          Praise Him, all creatures here below;
          Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
          Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!

          Praise God the Father who’s the source;
          Praise God the Son who is the course;
          Praise God the Spirit who’s the flow;
          Praise God, our portion here below!

          And then:
          1. How Great Thou Art
          2. In Christ Alone.
          3. Ancient Words
          4. Amazing Grace
          God bless,
          William

            I know that hymn well, it's sung at my church in every service after we give tithes and offerings.

                    Oh Holy Night ... maybe not my favorite song, but I love the line "Fall on your knees!
                    Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!
                    O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
                    O night divine, O night, O night Divine.

                    William: Not sure if it is written by a Calvinist, but still good. (LOL)

                      And Can it Be was written by Charles Wesley yet it sounds very Reformed. I think Wesley was Reformed at heart, his mind just didn't know it.

                        Deade putting in my two cents:

                        1. How Great Thou Art
                        2. Amazing Grace
                        3. Blessed Assurance
                        4. Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
                        5. Victory in Jesus
                        6. Just a Closer Walk With Thee
                        7. Do Not Pass Me By
                        8. Love Lifted Me
                        9. I've Got a Mansion
                        10.What a Friend We Have in Jesus

                        That is just the top ten. I Know all the verses by heart as well as others:

                        11. Standing on the Promises of God
                        12. The Old Rugged Cross
                        13. I Love to Tell the Story
                        14. In the Garden
                        15. Farther Along
                        16. In the Sweet By and By
                        17. Shall We Gather at the River
                        18. Jesus Loves Me

                        I know all these by heart also. I sing at least 3 each night while trying to unwind for sleep. It is good for my memory too.

                        Yours,
                        Deade
