  • Dan 5:1-4

Daniel 5:1-4 King James Version (KJV)

5 Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
2 Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

    Daniel 5:1-4
MSTC 1 King Belshazzar made a great banquet to his thousand lords: with all these thousand he made great cheer, 2 and when he was drunken with wine, he commanded to bring him the golden and silver vessels, which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple at Jerusalem: that the king and his lords with his queen and concubines might drink thereout. 3 So they brought the golden vessel, that was taken out of the temple of the Lord’s house at Jerusalem. Then the king and his lords with his queen and concubines drunk out of them. 4 They drunk wine, and praised their Idols of gold, silver, copper, iron, wood and stone.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 They were living a life of self pride. They thought they did not have to answer to anyone.

2-3 This was not a wise decision this was sacred items for service of the Lord. This shows that he did not think so much of God. This showed that he did not care of what had happened to his father by his experience. These vessels were not too used by anyone other than the priests they were never to be touched by Gentiles.

4 They praised their gods, they were thankful to their gods, they had self value, which is not always bad but when there is in their eyes more than God it is a big problem. They used God’s vessels for pagan worship.
