  • Encouraging Bible Verses

I just sent my friend an email sharing some encouraging scripture and I thought "I might as well share some with my brothers and sisters on CF." Feel free to post some of your favorite; these are only some of my favorites I've stockpiled on my Bible app.

    2 Corinthians 4:6,17
[6]For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
    [17]For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

    2 Timothy 1:7
[7]For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    Joshua 1:9
[9]Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

    Psalms 62:5-8
[5]My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
[6]He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
[7]In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
[8]Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

    Hebrews 13:5
[5]Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

    Psalms 103:11-12
[11]For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
[12]As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

    Isaiah 40:31
[31]But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

    Romans 8:15,31-34
[15]For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
[31]What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
[32]He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
[33]Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
[34]Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

    Ephesians 3:20
[20]Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

    Ephesians 2:10
[10]For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

    Romans 8:18
[18]For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

    Romans 8:28
[28]And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

    Romans 8:36-39
[36]As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
[37]Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
[38]For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
[39]Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Psalms 125:1-2
[1](A Song of degrees.) They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
[2]As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

Nice idea WFR! Thanks for sharing all those wonderful verses with us :)

Here are three more I thought of to add to the collection:

    Isaiah 41
10 Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

    Jeremiah 29
11 I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

    Matthew 11
28 Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

      Good stuff David, here's more:

      2 Corinthians 12:9-10
[9]And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
[10]Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

      Ephesians 1:4-7
[4]According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
[5]Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
[6]To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
      [7]In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

      Psalms 94:14
[14]For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

      John 14:2-3
[2]In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[3]And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

David posted one of mine, Isaiah 41:10. This one comforts me greatly.

My father's favorite was Philippians 4:13, which has also become one of mine. It's kind of a neat story. My child was sick and needed to see a specialist. I was having trouble getting to the appointment on time, with my ill baby crying and everything. I was lost, tired, worried, overwhelmed. I prayed for help calming down and finding the place. After about a minute, I saw a sign that had this verse on it. Right after the sign, was the doctor's office. How's that for help... literally a sign, pointing the way.
